When researching our move to Belize, one of our main priorities was good internet service, but we were shocked to see the cost of internet.  Since we run 2 internet businesses, always having a good, available internet connection is not only convenient, it’s near mandatory. There is only one reason we chose Ambergris Caye as our current global home base:  The Water.  Our reason for moving here was so simple we didn’t have to think about it very long: we wanted to play on white sand and swim in crystal clear water with great marine life.  That’s it. 

Step off the main tourist strip to experience one of the cheapest, best little delights that we’ve discovered here in San Pedro, Belize.  Tiny little makeshift stands are set up on the street.  Behind stands a woman that looks like a sweet grandmother and she only sells one thing: chicken tacos.

A visit to Ambergris Caye is not complete without the world famous Chicken Drop at Wahoo’s Lounge.  Last night we experienced this phenomenon that entertained adults and children alike.  A combination of chickens, good-hearted gambling and lots of yelling.

It seems to me people have great intentions when it comes to less materialism and more saving, but once the holiday spirit is upon us, most tend to lose focus.  Mountains of presents sit under a Christmas tree making for a pretty picture and ensuring a great holiday, right?
